Atomic Structure
Describe-
PROTONS, NEUTRONS, ELECTRONS
*Where each one is found and what kind of charge they have.
Protons, neutrons, and electrons are all subatomic particles. This means they are smaller than atoms! Each one has a different job, or charge.
-Protons have a positive charge.
-Neutrons have a neutral, or no charge.
-Electrons have a negative charge.
Protons and neutrons stick together and make up the nucleus. The nucleus is the center of an atom. The amount of protons in the nucleus determine an element's atomic number. This also places elements in specific spots on the periodic table. Also, the amount of both protons and neutrons in an atom make up an element's atomic mass. Electrons float around in an electron cloud which surrounds the nucleus. There are difference shells in an electron cloud. They're kind of like levels.
